OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Kansas State jumped on Oklahoma State for three first-inning runs and eliminated the Cowboys from the Big 12 baseball tournament with an 11-5 win.
Four Wildcats drove in two runs each in Thursday’s win as Kansas State advances to play Friday against the loser of Thursday’s Oklahoma-Baylor game.
Oklahoma State starter Randy McCurry faced five hitters without recording an out before he was knocked out of the game during K-State’s three-run first. Kansas State (27-30) added three more runs in the third and broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning after the Cowboys (32-25) scored three times in the bottom of the third.
McCurry (4-3) took the loss while Gerardo Esquivel (3-1) picked up the win with 2 1-3 innings of scoreless relief of starter Joe Flattery.
